Paris Hilton, Kylie Jenner and ordinary dog owners worldwide are all in when it comes to dressing up their pups. There is a recent trend of dressing your dogs up to the nines in street outfits, costumes and comfy clothing. Dogs of all shapes and sizes flaunt their trendy garments on the city streets all around the world.

Amanda Vazquez, a NYPD 911 operator, is obsessed with her unique pooch. Myla, a 3-year-old Shiba Inu, is used to being spoiled with treats, outfits and nail polish. Vazquez, a Yonkers native, said, Myla dresses to impress a certain canine. “Saturday’s are her glam days. Myla goes to the park to meet with her beau, Spartacus, where they run around and play all day.” Screen Shot 2018-10-16 at 2.47.02 PMMyla alongside her boyfriend Spartacus after a run in the doggy park Photo by Amanda Vazquez.

Decked out in her pink tracksuit accompanied with her painted nails, Myla is a force to be reckoned with.

“I recently got into doggy nail polish. I was always skeptical due to the chemicals in polish, but I found a cool company named Pet Pawlish that creates chemical-free nail polish for dogs,” Vazquez said.

Pampering pooches is fun for some animal lovers and a hobby for others. “I threw Myla a third birthday party. Invited all her dog friends and family, even got her a hand-made birthday cake,” Vazquez adds. “She was gifted with red nail polish. Since she’s no longer a pup, I thought we could upgrade from pink to red.” Some will say it’s ridiculous, while others will agree that it is ridiculously cute.Screen Shot 2018-10-16 at 2.46.45 PMMyla on her third Birthday enjoying a handmade peanut butter cake Photo by Amanda Vazquez.

As a dog owner myself, it gives me a sense of fulfillment seeing my pooch strutting its stuff in a cute outfit. Hats, glasses and coats. Any outfit you can buy for yourself, you can get for your favorite pooch. Unfortunately, my chihuahua mix, Noah, doesn’t enjoy it as much as I do, as seen in the photo below.  Screen Shot 2018-10-16 at 2.46.14 PMVictoria Torres and her chihuahua mix, Noah. This trend is not as new as we think. It’s been around for over a century.  Photographer Harry Whittier Frees started a career in cute animal photography in 1906, dressing both cats and dogs up while doing human actions.

“I will continue to dress Myla up no matter what the haters have to say,” Vazquez said. “I hope it’s a trend that never ends.”  I agree, Amanda.
