As a last memorial for the undead, I decided to do a quick spooky dessert. With Halloween soon to come and chocolate on the mind, I thought some spooky ghost brownies would be a good way to celebrate the chilling holiday season.

I decided to make the brownies gluten-free. This is not adding anything special; I just simply grabbed a box brownie mix that was gluten-free. Unfortunately, the marshmallows that I found were not gluten-free, but do not worry, they do exist and you can find them.

Here is what you’ll need for the spooktacular brownies.

Ingredients:

1 box of brownie mix (be sure to read the box for the ingredients that requires as well)

1 cup of chips or nuts (this is optional; I did not add anything special to mine)

1 bag medium marshmallows

1 can vanilla frosting

1 tube of black icing writer gel in black (or any color you want your ghost faces to have)

Instructions:

Follow the instructions on the back of your brownie mix. My mix required ½ cup of melted butter or ½ cup of oil. I beat together the oil with the eggs and water. When mixed well,  I added in the brownie mix.

Once spread evenly in the pan, I put the brownies in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit and let them bake for 40 minutes. Mine took around 50 minutes to bake; I also like mine a little gooey, so keep that in mind when baking.

Once they are done cooling, you then can add your spooky ghosts!

Start by cutting out an individual square of brownie, then place a medium-sized marshmallow on top. Take 2 tablespoons of melted vanilla frosting and slowly pour it over the marshmallow. I recommend using a spoon to pour over each marshmallow individually. After you are satisfied with how spooky your ghost is, let it chill for 5-10 minutes before adding faces using your colored icing gel.

Once complete, just serve and enjoy your cute, spooky and delicious Halloween treat!
